Most of the products we sell are body care, and body care is really a question of texture: how much time you have, how much product you want to feel on the skin, and where on the body it goes. The Lavyl series offers three textures, and each has a natural place in a day.
Sprays
Lavyl Auricum, Auricum Sensitive, Astria, Genie Spirit and Lymph are all sprays: water-based mists with plant extracts and essential oils. A spray is the lightest way to put a product on skin. One to three puffs on clean skin, left to dry for a moment, and you are dressed and gone. They suit the morning, the gym bag, travel and any part of the body that is awkward to reach with a lotion, such as the back or the shoulders. The 50 ml sizes exist for exactly that reason. Because they dry quickly they leave little residue and the scent settles fast. Lavyl Lymph is the exception in method: the label directs it onto dry skin after a bath or shower, sprayed evenly, so it belongs in the bathroom rather than the bag.
Lotions
Lavyl Body (and Solvyl Body in the coriander series) is a lotion: an emulsion of water and plant oils with cocoa butter. A lotion asks for a little more time, because you massage it in or leave it a minute to absorb, and it gives more in return: a feeling of comfort that lasts through the day. It suits the evening after a shower, or the morning on days when the air is dry. Apply it to clean skin, work it in with the palms, and give it a moment before dressing.
Body butter
Lavyl Allin Tube is the richest texture in the range: shea butter with olive, jojoba, argan, sweet almond and coconut oils. A body butter is not for the whole body every day; it is for the places that need the most, such as elbows, knees, heels, hands and any patch that feels tight. Warm a small amount between the palms until it softens, then massage it in. A little goes a long way, which is why the tube is 100 ml. Use it at night, or after hand washing, when it has time to sink in.
Putting them together
A simple day might be a spray in the morning, nothing at midday, and a lotion or the body butter in the evening. On a travel day the spray does everything. On a cold, dry week the lotion moves to twice a day and the butter comes out for hands and feet. There is no correct order beyond one principle: apply the lightest texture first if you use two at the same time, and let each dry or absorb before the next.
Two reminders that apply to all three
Patch test any new product first, and keep everything away from the eye area. The full directions for each product are on its page, transcribed from the label; the label itself is the final word.
