Exyol SC is the only face product we sell, and the only product in the Exyol series. It is a light facial serum in a 30 ml dropper bottle, built around sea-buckthorn fruit extract and ascorbic acid, which is vitamin C, with jojoba oil, shea butter and panthenol. This article explains the formula and the way it is used.
Sea buckthorn
Hippophae rhamnoides is a shrub whose orange berries have been pressed for oil and extract in northern Europe and Asia for centuries. In cosmetics the fruit extract is used for skin conditioning, and it gives the serum its warm colour. It is the lead plant extract in Exyol SC and the reason for the product's name.
Vitamin C
Ascorbic acid is listed as an antioxidant: in a formula its role is to protect the oils and extracts around it from oxidation. It is a well-known ingredient in face care and one that people often look for by name; on our label it appears as Ascorbic Acid.
The supporting cast
Jojoba oil (Simmondsia chinensis seed oil) and shea butter (Butyrospermum parkii butter) are emollients: they soften and give the serum its smooth glide without heaviness. Panthenol, provitamin B5, is listed as skin conditioning and humectant. Vitamin E as tocopheryl acetate is a second antioxidant. The full list is on the product page, in label order.
How to use it
Apply one to three drops to clean facial skin, one to three times a day, and press them in gently with the fingertips rather than rubbing. Avoid the eye area. A serum goes on before a moisturiser if you use one, and after cleansing. Most people find the morning and the evening are enough. The dropper measures the amount for you; three drops cover the face.
Care of the bottle
The label asks for storage in a cool place away from light. Close the cap after each use; the dropper keeps air out of the bottle, which matters for a formula with vitamin C. The period after opening is printed on the packaging.
Patch test first, as with any new product: one drop on the inside of the forearm, left for 24 hours. Then start with the evening application alone for a few days before adding the morning.
