Most people know coriander from the kitchen: the leaves in a salsa, the seeds in a curry. In the Solvyl series it is the signature ingredient, used as leaf extract, herb oil and seed oil, in the way that lavender is the signature of the Lavyl series. Four products carry it: a body spray, a body lotion, a shower gel and a shampoo.
The plant, three ways
Coriandrum Sativum Leaf Extract is a water-and-plant extract of the leaves; Coriandrum Sativum Herb Oil is the essential oil distilled from the green plant; Coriandrum Sativum Seed Oil is the oil distilled from the seeds, with a warmer, spicier note. Together they give the series its scent: green and herbal at first, a little warmer as it settles. Around them sit familiar companions from the Lavyl formulas: orange, lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, tea tree and ylang-ylang oils, vitamin E and vitamin A palmitate, and the same castor-oil emulsifier that keeps the oils dispersed in water.
Solvyl CC
The body spray of the series: coriander with orange, lavender, mandarin and ginger essential oils in a light mist, plus a seaweed extract (Fucus vesiculosus) and a natural green pigment. Spray one to three puffs onto clean skin, two to three times a day or as needed, and let it dry; avoid the eye area. It comes in 150 ml and a 50 ml travel size, and it contains no alcohol.
Solvyl Body
The lotion: coriander leaf and seed extracts with lavender and tea tree, sunflower and olive oils, cocoa butter and niacinamide (vitamin B3). Apply to clean skin as needed and massage in, or leave to absorb. It suits the evening, or the morning on a dry day, in the same way as Lavyl Body.
Solvyl Clean and Solvyl Hair
The rinse-off pair: a daily shower gel and an everyday shampoo, both with coriander, orange and rosemary extracts. Lather on wet skin or wet hair, rinse. Both are made to rinse clean without leaving a tight feeling, and both are suitable for daily use.
Lavyl or Solvyl? They are two scents on the same idea. If you like lavender and citrus, the Lavyl series is the natural choice; if you prefer something greener and a little spicier, Solvyl is for you. Many customers keep both and switch by season or by mood. The textures and directions match across the two series, so a Lavyl routine translates to Solvyl product for product.
As with everything here, patch test a new product first, keep it away from the eyes, and read the label. Each product page carries the full ingredient list, transcribed from the packaging.
